Rise for Orchestra (2019)

Rise is an adaptation of the first movement of my Hammond organ concerto. Within the piece, the solo organ part has been cast to the other instrumental families of the orchestra. In this work, I sought to expound upon several themes of freedom as in my concerto.

Rise was first performed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andre Raphel, apart of the American Composers Orchestra Earshot Program with the DSO. Composers Gabriela Lena Frank, Derek Bermel and Jonathan Bailey Holland served as guest mentors for the event.
