...and Beyond was commissioned by cellist Angelique Montes for premiere and release on her new album Refraction which will feature solo cello works by black composers that showcase the range and versatility of black artistry. As Montes describes, "The album title - "Refraction"- represents the myriad of paths and directions black artistry radiates."

The album will also feature works by Nathalie Joachim, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Tania Leon, and Sophia Bass.

I've always had an incredible fascination with the cosmos and what imaginable and unimaginable wonders dwell beyond our reach. I feel the cello is such a suitable instrument to showcase these thoughts with its incredible instrumental and timbral range.

I very much look forward to exploring the vast expanse of sounds and textures between the acoustic prowess of the cello and the never-ending timbral possibilities in electronic medium.
