Nuclear Winter

for 2-Channel Fixed Media (2017)

Notes

Nuclear Winter was written in the electronic music studio at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2017. In my works for fixed media, I’ve found that storytelling has been one of the most gratifying aspects to explore, as there are so many possible worlds to place the listener in. In this 2-channel work, I have the listener emerge from a bomb shelter after a nuclear disaster. What follows is small voyage through a dystopian wasteland, only to be met with the threat of another warning siren.

The work was created using built synths in Logic, collected pre-recorded sounds, as well as combined with patches made in SuperCollider.
